Why I Built a Savings Account Comparison Tool - and What It Actually Shows You

If you have ever tried to find the best savings account in Australia, you already know the problem. Every bank advertises a headline rate. Very few make it obvious what you actually need to do to earn it.

Some accounts require five card purchases a month. Some cap the bonus at $25,000. Some need your balance to grow every single month - no withdrawals allowed. And some of those eye-catching rates? They last four months, are restricted to new customers, and then quietly drop to almost nothing.

Most people get tired of clicking through 30+ bank websites, squinting at PDFs, and trying to keep it all straight. So I built a page that puts it all in one place.

What the HISA tool does

ozfinn.com.au/hisa is a free comparison table for personal high interest savings accounts across Australian banks. At a glance, you can see:

• The total interest rate (broken into base and bonus)
• The maximum balance that earns the full rate
• Exactly what hoops you need to jump through to get the bonus

That last point is the one most comparison sites gloss over. Knowing a bank offers 5.15% is not very useful if you do not also know you need to deposit $200, make no withdrawals, and grow your balance every month - and that the bonus only applies to the first $25,000.

What it deliberately leaves out

I have not included the short-term promotional rates - the ones that last for four months usually and then vanish. They make for great marketing but are close to irrelevant in anyone's actual financial journey. What matters is what you will earn six months from now, not just next month.

No sign-up, no ads, no affiliate links

This is not a lead-generation tool dressed up as a comparison. There is no sign-up. There are no ads. There are no affiliate links. The table exists because I wanted something useful, and I figured others might too.

I know tools like the Accounts Leaderboard already exist and do a solid job. This is not trying to replace anything. I just wanted the bonus requirements laid out more clearly so a person could quickly figure out what actually suited their situation. For example - I personally did not want to make five card purchases every month just to earn bonus interest. That single filter changes which accounts make sense pretty dramatically.

The first of many
